You will be doing what’s called a “text on text” exercise. Your job will be to write comments about the photo, leaving room for others’ writing as well. GO TO:

Here are the kinds of things they should be writing in response to the photo.
1. Make a personal connection to the photo (e.g., “This reminds me of .....”).
2. Write questions the photo brings to mind (e.g., “Who, what when, where, why or how”).
3. Write detailed observations about the photo (e.g., “The color red is everywhere — the sun, one person’s shoes, and the flowers and curtains in the background”). (Minimum 3 facts/2 detail each.)
4. Make a guess as to what message of the original caption of this photo.
