Tri-Venn Diagram....

Recap: Your Tri-Venn Diagram should show all the research you gathered for the Animals Webquest. In Part 1, you researched 6 animals. Then, in Part 2, you were asked to select 3 out of the 6 animals from Part 1.

NOW, use the information you gathered and fill in the differences of the 3 animals and their similarities.

Your podcast script should have:

Intro (5Ws: who, what, when, where, why)
Discussion
Topic 1 (first animal similarities/differences)
Topic 2 (second animal " ")
Topic 3 (third animal " ")

Closing - Wrap up your discussion about 3 animals.

Class 3-301 Podcasts - Reader's Theatre

Cast Members

We will be recording a podcast of "The Legend of Slappy Hooper." (Tekkidsps85q is now in iTunes for subscription. Yayyy!)
Narrator 1: James; Narrator 2: Benjamin; Narrator 3: Saimon; Narrator 4: Rihanna; Slappy - Tasfia; Rose Red - Khalid; Eagle; Jessica; Ray Sunshine - Kayla; Michael: Chloe; Announcer: Subah

Students are to carefully read their lines, read with feeling, paying attention to punctuation: pause at commas; dead STOP at periods; shock, amazement, surprise at exclamation points. Students do not need to learn script by memory. Just master reading it for performance.

I would like students to be ready to record after we return from Thanksgiving Holiday.

Thanks for your support.

Burning Question of the Week! BQOW

Hi Tekkids,

Kids like us have many questions about ourselves, friends, family, school and everyday decisions. While reading the question, think about how you would answer it, and respond by clicking the link below. Ask your friends/family to answer it too and see if their response is different from yours. Remember, there are no right or wrong answers. Your response is determined by what you believe!

Every week, there will be a "Burning Question." Please click on the following link to respond. You will not be graded on your answer, but that you did responded to BQOW (If you remember, all my writing assignments require a minimum of ONE paragraoh. This reminder won't be given every time you have to do writing. So please try and remember the basics.)

Podcast or Video Scripts Format

Here is a podcast script format, but you can also use this to outline your video script as well. We will be talking about it in class. Your scripts should be done by November 29, 2010.

Sample Podcast Recipe - A Blueprint for Your Podcast or Video

Shoot for a show length of 10-12 minutes. Keep each topic moving, and limit to 2-3 minutes. Use guests to break up the tone of your shows. Use musical backgrounds (known as)

Show Outline - Your Table of Contents

Here's an example of a show outline:
- Show intro (who you are, what you're going to talk about): 30 seconds
- Intro music jingle (repeat for each show so listeners identify the jingle with your show): 30 seconds
- Topic 1: 3 minutes
- Topic 2: 3 minutes
- Interlude (music or break): 30 seconds
- Topic 3: 3 minutes

- Closing remarks (thank audience, thank guests, talk about the next show): 2 minutes
- Closing music jingle (suggest same as Intro music jingle): 2 minutes

How to Write Your Script/Copy

Create an intro to quickly explain the purpose of your podcast, roughly 2-3 sentences in length. Use an announcer to read this portion of your podcast over music.

Use this intro at the beginning of each of your shows to make you unique.

Next, create a 30 second greeting to audience and give them a preview (snippet) of the show.

The most important thing is to keep listeners' attention by making the show interesting.

Close the show with an outro, using the same theme music from the intro to remind the audience that it’s your show they’re listening to
.
Once you get a listening audience, get feedback about your show. Ideas they may provide might be: length of segments, topics discussed, guests on the show, and so on.

Here’s an example of a podcast that a group did:

Part 2 of Animals Webquest...

Because I have collected notebooks for review, some assignments cannot be completed until next week. Secondly, please don't worry about a due date for Part 2 yet. We will talk about that next week. I look forward to seeing you at open school afternoon/evening.
